When wondering aloud if a girl is interested, it’s not uncommon to be met with the phrase, “Trust me, when a girl likes you – you’ll know.” Well, how frustrating! And not very helpful.
In this age of fast internet, fast food, and sometimes, fast dating, how do you know if the girl you’re vibe-ing is sending signals back? Here are a few tell-tale signs to decipher if that cute smile of hers is par for the course – or being reserved for you.
She Wants to Talk to You
Is she texting or emailing first? Does she ask open-ended questions to get you talking? If a girl is interested it means she wants to get to know you. She’ll try to keep the conversation flowing. Pick up on this and be sure to ask thoughtful questions back. She’ll love the attention.
She Catches your Eye
Eye contact and body language rule supreme when trying to decipher her signals. Did she make eye contact from across the room? Does she lean towards you when you’re speaking? Physical connection and proximity are important. Be on the lookout for this closeness and be sure to put out some good vibes of your own. Direct eye contact and a smile are great places to start.
Did she laugh at the joke that no one else in your chatty group seemed to hear? Does she incorporate a past joke into current conversation or refer to something you said earlier? She’s listening and what you say is important to her.
Her Phone is No Where to be found
If you’ve taken the leap and are out on a date, her phone will be nowhere in sight. She wants to give you her undivided attention and expects the same from you. If she’s glancing at her phone mid conversation, take it in stride but flag the act. If checking the time is more important than your story about summer camp, maybe things aren’t going as well as you hoped.
Just Ask Her Out
When in doubt, the easiest way to find out if the girl you’re interested in is interested back is to just invite her out. If you’re more nervous than usual, go in there with a security blanket – tell her you’ve got an extra ticket to a baseball game because your friend bailed and wanted to know if she’d be interested in joining. If she says yes, you’re in! If she says no, you can play it off cool – maybe next time, right?
Have you ever been unsure as to whether a girl was into you or not?
