First Date To-Do List for Men…By Women
Use this first date to-do list when you’re preparing for your first date and you’ll be off to a great start.
1. Plan Ahead
Women love a man who takes charge, so you should plan your first date. Not only will it make your evening go smoothly, it will also show you care. So you make the reservations, pick the activities and come up with a backup plan just in case.
Keep in mind that a first date is all about getting to know each other, so pick somewhere you can easily talk.
2. Do Some Reconnaissance
Try to find out a little more about her interests before the first date. In other words, do some Facebook creeping. There are a few good reasons for this. For example, it would be pretty embarrassing to learn that your date is a vegetarian after taking her to a steak house! It will also help you find some common interests to break the ice if there’s a lapse in conversation. This is behind-the-scenes work; but if it makes the date go more smoothly, you’ll look good in her eyes.
3. Dress to Impress
First impressions are everything, and your clothes are probably going to be one of the first things she looks at (after your winning smile of course!). Choose an outfit that’s appropriate for the date and make sure it’s something you feel good in. Don’t choose something that’s too tight, too hot, or too itchy, or you’ll just come off as awkward and uncomfortable in your own skin. If you’re comfortable, you’ll appear more confident, and confidence is sexy!
Here’s one easy fashion rule to follow that will make you instantly look more put-together: match the belt to the shoes. And about those shoes… she will look at them, so make sure they’re clean, stylish and not sneakers!
4. Look Good, Smell Better
Take some time before the date to give yourself some serious grooming. Shave or trim the facial hair and pluck anything that needs plucking. Maybe even stop in for a fresh haircut earlier that day. You know she’ll be spending a lot of time getting ready; she’ll appreciate it if you do too!
Set a reminder on your phone to put on deodorant. It seems silly, but it’s better than forgetting. And a word of caution when it comes to cologne: less it more! She’ll appreciate it when you lean in for the first kiss.
5. Be on Time!
After following all these steps, you’ll look good, feel good and be confident about the date you planned. Don’t ruin it by showing up late. Fashionably late does not apply to the first date, especially if you’re picking her up. Show her the respect of being on time and set the stage for a memorable night.
