…that are either turning them on or off. What are they and how do you know you are doing them? And how can you stop or use them to your advantage?
You’ve heard of body language? Usually it’s in reference to the way we position our bodies around those we are attracted to. We do this without being aware. It is a completely unconscious movement from biological signals in the brain, initially because of mating. The flushing of the cheeks, rapid breathing, increased heart rate signal attraction but there are more overt signs as well. Your pupils dilate, you move your body or parts of your body closer to the target, you twirl your hair, play with your earlobe, stroke yourself….(come on! Your arm or neck…not that)! We’re talking signals, not public indecency here! Often you bite or lick your lips, thrust out your chest or stand up straighter, look down coyly or look up boldly. Sure those are all sexy and adorable, right?
But what about the other things we’re unconsciously doing that are the opposite of adorable? There are some weird habits we all do that are complete turn-offs. Try to be aware of what your body is doing and stop yourself from these social acceptance killers.
One is; chewing the inside of your mouth. Yuck. I see people do this all the time and it makes their faces look so dumb! Another one is picking your teeth with your fingernail. Eew. Seriously carry some floss or a toothbrush or both and go to a bathroom to take care of that. Like where are you putting the stuff that comes off on your nail? If you wipe it on yourself that’s even eeewier! It smells bad. Then you will smell bad. Big turnoff.
You will balk at this one but I see people do it all the time; public picking. Please don’t ever pick your nose in public and always use a hanky or tissue. Do you even know what hankies are? My dad always used them and I love them. They are handy to carry and a great conversation starter.
Don’t smell your hair. It just looks weird, even though you are doing it because your hair smells good. (I hope). And don’t bite your nails, or spit, anywhere!
Also slouching, mumbling and not making eye contact are real killers of an instant attraction. Be confident, hold your head up and be proud of who you are…even if you are a closet nose-picker…guess what? Most people are. Just remember; you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose (in private) but you can’t pick your friends nose, but you CAN offer a lovely hanky if you catch them doing it!
